"By Endurance, We Conquer": Monday Musings

Mantra of the Week:

“By Endurance, We Conquer” - Ernest Shackleton, famous European Explorer and one of the first to journey to Antarctica.

In the era of 18-year-old social media millionaires, every TV show and movie in existence at our fingertips, and the greatest library ever conceived just a few clicks away, it’s easy to get used to things coming quickly.

The gap between what we want and until we get it is shortening.

Want to watch an obscure film made in 1954? Great, just search it up.

Want to pirate a book and send it to your Kindle? Awesome, it’ll only take a sec.

Want to order a Buzz Lightyear lamp made across the world in some Chinese factory? Perfect! Amazon will get it to you in two days.

And then when our package gets delayed and we have to wait a whole 3 days for our odd products to arrive, we get annoyed.

Things happen quickly in the modern era. And they’re only speeding up as AI gets better and better.

But what about things that don’t come quickly? Things like a fit body, health relationships, a successful career, happiness, what about those things? What do we do when we have to trudge in and out every single day, showing up no matter how we feel, and putting in the reps in the gym, the steps on the treadmill, and salads at home. What do we do then?

How do we achieve these great things when they seem so far away?

Endurance.

Through sheer persistence and refusing to give up - that’s how we win. There’s no workaround hard work. There’s no shortcut other than showing up. There’s no way to win without winning every single day.

So whoever you are, wherever you are, keep persisting. You are capable of the change you desire and the life you seek to live. Persist. Endure. Conquer.

I just discovered Peter Crone and holy FUCK is he something. He’s a spiritual-guru type coach infused with a psychology and Hindu philosophy twinge. A ton of insight, a ton of amazing quotes, a ton of amazing questions, and a ton of fun to listen to.

Main Insight: We are not our minds. We are not our bodies. We are the awareness experiencing the Universe. Get out of your head.

🎼 Song of the Week - Summer Madness by Kool and the Gang

COMPLETE 180 from last week’s very beautiful orchestral song, this smooth, funky, jazz-fusion mix is something to get enlightened to. If you want to truly experience nirvana, queue up this song, grab a joint or pour a whiskey, and enjoy.

📺 What I’m Watching - Silo on AppleTV

WOAH this show is good. Just finished the last episode on Saturday night and it was a blast. I’m a complete whore for Sci-Fi, and this thrilling show is exactly what I needed. Rebecca Ferguson’s performance is stellar. Absolutely jaw-dropping - can’t wait to see her in the next Dune film coming out later this year.

Yes i know it’s on AppleTV, but you can pirate it for free online - c’mon, just put in some effort :/

💡 A Quote to Ponder -

“How can you live with no story to tell?” - Dostoevsky
