confidence is not a character trait. it’s a state of mind.
worrying about something rarely makes you more capable at accomplishing it
if you don’t write your story, someone will write it for you
1 reflection
the best time of a party.
it’s 11:30 pm.
shitty music still blasts from a weak JBL speaker. food’s gotten cold and flies are surrounding it. and the alcohol is starting to wear down as people are getting 4th, 5th, and 6th drinks to amp themselves back up.
you’re scanning the room for a conversation. and there’s no way in hell you’re talking to the finance dude across the room who wears his company’s AMEX on his belt. and you refuse to even think of stirring up a conversation with the girl who’s life plan is legitimately “idk i’ll get married to a doctor or banker or something”.
fed up, you head a bit further away. and it appears.
a beacon of hope on this lonely night. a torch that brightens the entire sky and brings warmth every nook, cranny, crevice, and corner in this dark-ridden world. from the heavens itself, a cigarette descends.
and a guy who looks like he’s backpacked in Vietnam, mopped floors in El Salvador, and taught kids English in Tanzania. all in the same week.
now that dude is weird. great conversation to be had.
maybe this is just me, but these are the best moments of a party.
smoking outside with some strangers as we all get away from the chaos of the “party”.
cut out the superficiality.
get rid of the bullshit.
smoking is for the real ones.
now here’s a question.
what if you could be that for others? what if you could be the metaphorical “smoke break” for others?
in a world of superficiality and false appearances, a touch of honesty goes a long way.
see yall soon.
bye. :)
thanks for stopping by.
love you.
