in defense of the whimsical.
if life is a cupcake then the “whimsical” is the filling inside.
the cupcake doesn’t need filling. it’s quite good on its own. the rich chocolatey goodness or spiced pumpkin is pleasant and has two feet.
BUT!
you know that feeling?
that feeling of biting into a cupcake, assuming it’s a normal one.
BUT YOU’RE COMPLETELY WRONG??
and your eyes go wide and heart skips a beat and tastebuds jump in glee as they get that first hit of addictive lemon curd of chocolate ganache of whatever it is inside the cupcake.
after that first bite, you’re in heaven.

that, my friends, is the “whimsical”
that is the feeling you get after watching a Studio Ghibli film or thumbing through comics.
or perhaps when you order chicken fingers and fries and it taste like every other iteration you’ve had.
the “whimsical” is a light-hearted, energetic force which thrums in between pages of Harry Potter and Percy Jackson.
it lights you up, puts a smile on your face, and makes you feel like a kid again.
the whimsical bounces of Barbie dollhouses and disfigured action figurines.it sings when you open a picture book and read the first line of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”
the “whimsical” enhances the Experience of Life.
now, bathing in it all the time leads to boredom, fatigue, and the “whimsical” becoming boring.
that’s no un. but every so often, it’s good.

recently i just picked up a 1989 copy of The Amazing Spider-Man. i’ve never read comics. but after flipping thorugh these bright and beautiful bounties of color and excitement, i’ll start.
add some whimsical in your life today.
